Spread over an area of over 850,000m², Mirabilandia, near Ravenna, is Italy's largest amusement park, with 41 attractions and the two biggest rollercoasters in Europe (iSpeed and Katun). The park also offers visitors the emotions of a shows such as Police Academy, inspired by the American film series, with scenes, stunts and actors, vehicles and accessories used in what is without a doubt the biggest show of its type in Europe.
Type of Works
Almost two million visitors a year put the park's amenities to the test. The works involve restructuring the first toilet block and are part of a periodical maintenance programme for the buildings with the most traffic. The walls backing the sinks were lined with a glass mosaic by Everstone. The lively composition of various-sized discs in bright colours was well suited to the spirit of the location.
Laying equipment
The large spaces between the various circular elements of this particular mosaic, combined with a tile thickness of 8 mm, meant that the grouting had to be particularly high performance, such as Starlike by Litokol. Indeed, Starlike can be easily laid, forming a smooth and homogeneous surface without the risk of shrinkage.
Furthermore, and area so spread out with sealant, in comparison to the mosaic, has to be entirely absorption proof, easy to clean and sanitise, even when particularly aggressive detergents are used. The colour chosen for the grouting was Turchese with added Spotlight finishing, a colour and an effect which matched well with the fresh and laid-back appearance of the covering.
Material supply was guaranteed by the Salaroli company of Forlì, and the works were supervised by Geom. Alessio Giunti and Claudia Venturi.
